SPAM is a festival promoted by OAR (Ordine degli Architetti di Roma, order of architects of Rome) to spread a renewed culture of the project. An event that wants to bring the attention on the problems and issues that regulate the urban, social and economic transformations of great contemporary metropolises, with special focus on the capital city
SPAM stands for Settimana del Progetto di Architettura nel Mondo (week of the architectural project in the world). At its first edition, it aims at offering an outlook on planning at international level, with the presence of architects, scholars and critics, professionals and artists.
SPAM, in its positive meaning, is a place where the contamination of ideas on the topic of architecture will look for viral space and spreading in universities and academies, in cities, on the programmatic tables of politics, in citizens’ associations, in magazines and, in general, wherever there is talk about the future.
SPAM was created to shed new light on Rome as benchmark for the development of architectural ideas and thoughts on the city and on the future possible through confrontation with some of the most important protagonists of the international cultural scene.
OAR, which counts some 19,000 members, is the promoter of this event which aims at giving life to a strong event that can contribute to a group discussion, also offering an image of quality, credibility and efficiency, to bring the world of construction and national and international investments to focus on the Roman territory.
DREAMCITY, topic of this first edition, represents hope, listens and gives voice to citizens’ requests, to anything that creates an expectation, an incentive for growth. It doesn’t offer a solution; it seeks and interprets the needs of the large majority on cities’ active role. Seven days to focus on specific topics with the presence of some of the protagonists of the international cultural scene.
