Anna Maria Indrio/Norrøn

Anna Maria Indrio is an architect based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Italian by birth, Anna is one of the top architects in Scandinavia with numerous awards to her name. For 25 years, Anna Maria Indrio (AMI) was a partner of CF Møller, one of Europe’s largest architecture firms and she is currently partner in Norroen, a young up and coming architecture firm in Denmark. Over the course of a long and illustrious career, AMI has been Partner in Charge and Leading De- signer on a number of very prestigious works in museum architecture across Europe, including: the extension of the Natural History Museum in London, building the famous Darwin Center which contains England’s richest collection of plants and insects, including the original Darwin Collection / the extension of the prestigious Maritime Museum in Greenwich, a UNESCO site which docu- ments England’s historic maritime past/ the extension and renovation of Denmark’s state museum, the National Gallery in Copenhagen / the extension of the Museum of Modern Art “Arken” in the greater Copenhagen area /the transformation in the Academy for Gastronomy in the parterre of the Certosa and Museum of San Martino in Naples, a city museum located in the old monastery / a number of smaller museums in Jutland. Anna Maria Indrio has also designed many other cultural buildings, universities, five star hotels and a highly progressive modern prison in Denmark. In Bali, AMI has designed the new Montes- sori School campus in Berawa and the extension for the Damai Resort in Lovina. Anna Maria’s personal architectural style searches for a direct connection between the “genius loci”, the spirit of a place and modern simplicity. Her design organizes space in a hierarchical order, a classic approach which results in a dramatic experience of the buildings. Anna Maria has been knighted for her work in both Denmark and Italy, received numerous architectural awards across Europe and exhibited several times in the Biennale and many other prestigious venues. Due to her experience and contribution to architecture, she has been elect- ed onto a number of important public organizations: member of the Academy Board, which is Denmark’s state advisory committee managing na- tional and local questions related to architecture and art / member of the Board of the National Committee of ICOM, the international museums organi- zation (Indonesian representation is in Jakarta) / vice Chairman of the Thordvaldsens Museums Board (the Chair is the Mayor of Copenhagen) / member of the Wood Prize Award Committee / member of the International Committee of the Buildings Society, Danish Organization / member of Aspen, the forum of talented Italians abroad, an appointed position on an adviso- ry committee for the Italian government / guest professor at the Architectural University in Rome.
